The Wichita Ice Center, Wichita’s community ice rink, has announced two promotional events in the month of December. “A Trip to the North Pole” Holiday Ice Show will feature Wichita area skaters on Dec. 11-13. The show includes Wichita’s best figure skaters and rising stars from the Ice Center’s Skate Academy and Learn-To-Skate programs. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 11-12 and 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 13. Advance tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under and senior citizens 65 and over. Tickets purchased at the door are $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and senior citizens 65 and over. The event is approved by U.S. Figure Skating, hosted by the Wichita Ice Center and sponsored by 97.1 Bob-FM and 100.5 The Wolf. From Dec. 21 through Jan. 3, the Wichita Ice Center will sponsor a “Skate for Food Drive” on behalf of the Kansas Food Bank. For a canned food item and purchase of a regular public skate admission, attendees will receive a free skate rental, a free medium pop and a free bag of popcorn.
