The recorded program features Kennedy Center president Michael Kaiser, author of “The Art of the Turnaround: Creating and Maintaining Healthy Arts Organizations.” During his Thursday morning appearance at Century II's Mary Jane Teall Theater, Kaiser fielded questions from the audience and moderator Lou Heldman, a senior fellow in media management and journalism at Wichita State University. Since March, Kaiser has been visiting cities to engage arts organizations and the general public in a community conversation about building and sustaining a thriving arts community. Wichita marked his 30th stop as he makes his way across the country to give nonprofit performing arts organizations tips and strategies in areas of fundraising, building more effective boards of trustees, budgeting, marketing, technology and other areas pertinent to maintaining vital performing arts organization particularly during troubled economic times.
