For residents who deep fry a turkey, WFD recommends the following safety tips:

• Always keep children away from the cooking area;
• Don’t fry a turkey on a combustible surface such as a deck or inside the garage;
• Never position your body or face directly over the cooking equipment;
• Protect your hands and arms with gloves and tight-fitting, long-sleeve clothing; and
• Pay attention to cooking instructions typically found on the fryer packaging.
