Informational workshops offered to provide applicant assistance The 2011 City of Wichita Cultural Funding Grant Application is now available online at www.wichitaarts.com. Grant applications may also be picked up at the Division of Arts and Cultural Services’ administrative office, located within Century II at 225 W. Douglas. This is the sixth year that nonprofits arts and cultural services organizations in Wichita have been invited to apply for funds set aside by the Wichita City Council to assist with their operations. Informational workshops that explain the application process and provide grant writing assistance will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 at CityArts, 334 N. Mead. These interactive workshops will be conducted by fund-development consultant Nancy Kaiser-Caplan of NKC Associates, Kansas City, MO. Space is limited to 30 people. To be eligible for cultural funding, arts and cultural organizations must have 501(C)(3) nonprofit status and be located within the city limits. Last year the City awarded 28 organizations operational support grants that totaled more than $1 million. The 2011 application deadline is March 12, 2010. Through its cultural funding program, the City of Wichita is working to encourage the development of existing and emerging nonprofit arts and cultural service organizations as well as promote and encourage the growth of arts in Wichita to elevate the City’s cultural tourism and quality of life.
