Class discounts, pictures with Santa part of activities CityArts will host a Holiday Open House from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. There will be activities and entertainment for children as well as the opportunity for adults to learn more about the art center’s new schedule of winter art classes that begin the first week of January. As a special incentive, CityArts is offering a special 10 percent discount to anyone who signs up for an art class that day. CityArts is located at 334 N. Mead in Old Town Square. The Holiday Open House coincides with the City of Wichita’s Holiday on the Plazas. Food and arts/crafts vendors will be located on Old Town Square (2nd Street and Mead) and the Farm & Art Market Plaza (1st Street and Mosley) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday to sell unique handmade gifts to shoppers. During CityArts’ Open House, Radio Disney will be onsite to provide entertainment, music and special prize giveaways for the kids every half hour. Visitors of all ages may have their caricatures drawn by local artist and CityArts instructor Jaki McElroy as well as visit each of the center’s four art galleries that currently have an array of mixed media pieces on display. There will also be an appearance from Santa Claus who will be on hand to take pictures. So be sure to bring your camera. CityArts is a center for the arts that provides education, information and opportunities to area residents. In addition to rotating art exhibits that are housed in its four galleries, CityArts offers classes for both children and adults in such areas as digital photography, computer arts, painting, drawing, pottery, silversmithing, fiber and glass arts.
