16th Annual Don’t Drink and Drive Show Wichita Police Officers will conduct field sobriety and breath alcohol tests on a group volunteer drinkers from 10a.m. – 2p.m. on Wed. Dec. 30th, at the Patrol West Community Police Office, 5803 W. Central during T-95’s 16TH annual Don’t Drink and Drive Show. The partnership is part of the Wichita Police Department’s efforts to work towards a safe and secure community. “The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate how alcohol impairs the reflexes of drivers,” Lt. Troy Livingston said. “The Wichita Police Department is committed to getting drunk drivers off the streets.” A group of six volunteers will begin consuming alcohol at 9:00 a.m. They will be given a regulated amount of alcohol to show a variety of effects on gender, weight and tolerance levels. They will then undergo field sobriety testing to demonstrate how alcohol impairs one’s ability to operate a motor vehicle. In addition to the T-95 show, Wichita Police Officers will conduct a DUI saturation patrol beginning about 8 p.m. Thursday night and ending at approximately 3 a.m. Friday morning. Back to Top
