Entry deadline extended for annual CityArts show
Local and regional artists now have until Monday, Sept. 6 to submit entries for the Arts Council Juried Art Exhibit which is held annually at CityArts. All two and three-dimensional pieces in any media completed since 2007 are eligible for consideration. Entry forms should be accompanied by up to three jpeg images on a CD and a $25 nonrefundable entry fee (cash, checks, credit cards accepted). Entry forms and guidelines are available at CityArts, 334 N. Mead, or online at WichitaArts.
The entry period has been extended by a week to ensure that all interested artists have the opportunity to participate. The show is open to artists ages 18 and older, and all work must be original. Last year, the juried show was one of CityArts’ most viewed exhibits. This year’s exhibition will be on display in CityArts’ Main Gallery Oct. 1-23. All CityArts exhibits are free and open to the public.
More than $4,000 in prize money will be awarded by private collectors, local business and The Arts Council to artists in a variety of categories. The categories include Best of Show and Juror’s Choice. Michael “Mic” Jilg, professor of fine art at Fort Hays State University, will serve as this year’s juror.
The Arts Council, a local nonprofit organization, partners with the City of Wichita to promote the arts in the local community. The Juried Art Show is a way to not only encourage and support regional artists, but to also expose the general public to the creativity and imagination that is present in the Wichita area.
