Contact: Communications Team |

A free youth basketball clinic will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Lynette Woodard Center, 2750 E. 18th Street. The clinic will be hosted by the Wichita Park and Recreation Department and players of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder including former University of Kansas college basketball stars Cole Aldrich and Nick Collison.

The free camp, which will feature drills, games, food, and giveaways, is open to youth ages seven to 14. Participants may register before 2 p.m. the day of the camp at the Lynette Woodard Center.

Aldrich and Collison are first-round draft picks of the National Basketball Association. Aldrich, a 6-foot-11 center, is a rookie who helped the Jayhawks stay atop the college basketball rankings most of last season. Collison, a 6-foot-10 forward/center entering his sixth season, led the Jayhawks to the NCAA title game in 2003. Collison helped the Thunder advance to the NBA playoffs last season when they lost a close seven-game series to the eventual NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.
