Emergency Accident Reporting Plan in Effect

1/10/2011
Contact: Lt. Doug Nolte |

The Wichita Police Department is currently implementing the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan for the City of Wichita. Due to the high volume of accidents that are weather related, the decision was made early Monday morning.

From 5 am to 9 am 911 Dispatch reports 130 accidents on Wichita Streets.

The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan (EARP), allows motorists who are involved in a non-injury accident to move their vehicles, exchange information with the other driver involved and report the accident within 24 hours of occurrence. If there is an injury or alcohol use is suspected, call 911 and officers will respond to the accident.

Motorists can get an accident form at local area QuikTrips, police substations or report the accident online at www.wichitapolice.com. Wichita Police substations are located at the following addresses:

Patrol North
3015 E. 21st
350-3400

Patrol South
211 E. Pawnee
350-3440

Patrol East
350 S. Edgemoor
350-3420

Patrol West
661 N. Elder
350-3460

Relatedly, the City of Wichita’s Public Works & Utilities department has 60 staffers working on snow-removal equipment across the city and another 20 workers clearing roads in the Core Area and downtown. The crews are working 12-hour shifts. For more information, please contact Anthony DeCicco at 268-4081.
