O.J. Watson Park pony returns home, still recovering

Storm, the 4-year-old pony who has been recovering from an attack by two pit bulls earlier this month, was released today from Blair Doon Vet Hospital and returned to his shelter at O.J. Watson Park.

Storm will remain unavailable for pony rides and public viewing for at least two months while he recovers from injuries to his throat and stomach suffered in the early-morning on June 11, when two unattended pit bulls entered a pony shelter at the park.

The owner of the dogs has been charged.

Storm is on antibiotics and will need to be retrained before children can ride him again, said Brian Hill, assistant supervisor at O.J. Watson, who will care for Storm during the recovery process.

“We’re happy to see Storm come home and we want to thank Dr. Jennifer Sullivan,” Hill said of the Blair Doon Vet Hospital veterinarian who cared for Storm.

Storm has lived for two years at O.J. Watson, which has housed ponies for 30 years. The park has seven ponies that provide rides for children 12 and under.
