Registration for the 5th annual Bob Martz Memorial Golf Tournament is open. The tournament is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, June 15 at Auburn Hills Public Golf Course, 443 S. 135th St. West. Early registration is encouraged based on capacity turnout the past three years. Attached is a tournament flyer with registration information.
The tournament commemorates the public service of late Councilmember Bob Martz, who represented District V, home to Auburn Hills. Martz served on the Council from 1999 to 2007. During his tenure, he played a key role in the planning and creation of Auburn Hills, which Golf Week Magazine has recognized as one of the top five public courses in Kansas.
Individual tournament entry fees are $75 a person. Golf carts, lunch and gift bags will be provided, along with prizes for three flights of competition. Participants also receive a free round of golf at any of the five Wichita Public Golf Courses. A pizza party and awards presentation follows the tournament.
The golf tournament is a four- person scramble event; on-site registration begins at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the tournament fund the Bob Martz Scholarship Fund and the Hook-A-Kid-On-Golf program, which is designed to introduce the game to children who are first-time golfers. Also, hole sponsorships in support of the Wichita Junior Golf Foundation scholarship are available at $250. Sponsors will be identified in tee-box signs and recognized in marketing on Cox Cable Channel 7.
