Full Water Service Restored After Pumps Fail

8/2/2012
Contact: Don Henry, Department of Public Works & Utilities |

City of Wichita officials said four water pumps shut off simultaneously for approximately 15 minutes early this afternoon but water pressure has been restored in the Wichita area.

During the malfunction, some Wichita area customers experienced a reduction in water pressure and, in some cases, a disruption in service.

Wichita Public Works & Utilities staff members are working to determine the cause, said Alan King, the department director. He added that three of the pumps are now operational, repairs continue on the fourth pump. Customers may continue to use water at normal levels.
