Wichita Transit merges West Central and Westside Connector Routes
Wichita Transit will begin a new, streamlined Westside Connector route starting Sept. 15. The current West Central and Westside Connector routes will be merged and the West Maple route will be altered to provide service to the airport. The change is the result of a Wichita City Council request to find ways to increase ridership on low performing routes on the west side of Wichita.
The merged West Central and Westside Connector route will keep the name Westside Connector and run hourly service midday from 8:20 to 3:20 and half-hour service during peak hours from 5:50 – 8:20 a.m. and 3:20 – 6:50 p.m. Saturday service will by hourly all day. The Westside Connector will cover areas between Maple and 21st street and between Maize and Meridian.
Passengers will be able to transfer between the Westside Connector and the West Maple route on the southeast corner of Maple and Ridge. The Westside Connector route does not go to the Transit Center, so passengers will need to transfer from the Westside Connector to the West Maple route to get to the Transit Center. The West Maple route will keep the same service hours. To view maps of the routes please visit the site below, scroll down to the “Bus Route Changes” section and click on the names of the routes.
