The graduation for the 2013 Winter Recruit Class of the Wichita Police Department is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at City Council Chambers.
The graduating class has 14 Wichita Police officers. District Court Judge Joe Kisner will swear in the new law enforcement officers, and there will be remarks from Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams.
After having successfully completed 23 weeks of basic law enforcement academy training, the officers will graduate and begin 12 weeks of field training that pairs each new officer with a veteran officer. That pairing assists new officers in applying their classroom training to practical situations in the field.
A reception for the graduates, family members, and honored guests will immediately follow the graduation ceremony.
