City Manager Robert Layton announced today the hiring of Chris Bezruki as director of the City of Wichita Human Resources Department.
Bezruki, who is currently the Human Resources Director for the City of Champaign (IL.), is scheduled to start his new job on July, 8. He has more than 20 years of human resources experience that includes negotiating benefit and labor contracts, overseeing training programs, creating and managing budgets, interpreting human resources law and presenting proposals.
“Chris Bezruki brings to the City of Wichita an extensive background in human resources,” Layton said. “As the Human Resources Director for the City of Champaign, he demonstrated a progressive and innovative approach to employee relations. We are extremely fortunate to have someone as talented and professional as Chris join our team.”
Bezruki has also worked as an Assistant City Manager for Human Resources for the City of Homestead, Fl. (1988-93); as the Chief Executive Officer for the City of Charleston, IL.; and as an Assistant to the County Treasurer in Coles County, IL. Bezruki has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in public administration/political science from Eastern Illinois University.

As head of the City of Wichita Human Resources Department, Bezruki will manage a $1.4 million budget and 17 employees. The department is responsible for providing employment, payroll, and labor management services for the 3,130 full-time positions within the City of Wichita organization.
