The Wichita City Council workshop scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, will be held in Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall, 455 N. Main.
The only agenda item is a wrap up of a proposed “Sales Tax Initiative & Strategic Plan.” The proposed sales tax initiative was presented to residents during a series of recent community engagement meetings.
The community engagement meetings are part of an initiative titled “Building a Better Future,” a way for residents to weigh in on shaping the city’s future and identifying key priorities for 2015 and beyond.
The “Building a Better Future” meetings included a presentation and feedback session on the proposed city sales tax, which, if approved by voters, would fund key community priorities related to water supply, a jobs initiative, public transit and pavement maintenance.
Tuesday’s meeting is a workshop in which Council members hear reports and discuss agenda items but do not take action. Residents are encouraged to attend workshops but there is no public comment segment during workshop meetings. Public comment is allowed during regular City Council meetings when elected officials hear reports and possibly take action.
