The City of Wichita Park & Recreation winter recreation classes are now available online at www.wichita.gov. Locate the “Government” tab on the homepage and click on the Park & Recreation link. Also, print copies of Wichita Park & Recreation Activities Guide will be mailed starting December 29 and available at area Dillons stores the same week.
There are several new classes for the winter session; Lynette Woodard Recreation Center, located at 2750 E. 18th St. will be offering indoor cycling classes for both youth and adults. The youth class will offer cardiovascular fitness for ages 10 to 15 years old. Adults will be able to choose from multiple cycling classes such as Cycle Circuit, Cycle Core and the Extreme Ride. Starting New at Golf (SNAG) will be offered at Linwood Recreation Center (1901 S. Kansas) this winter for youth ages 6 to 12. This class is designed to teach youth the fundamentals of golf in an indoor setting.
Wichita Park & Recreation will also hold a mid-season fitness session which, runs from Dec. 29 through Jan. 16. This session is designed for adults who want to try a fitness class before officially registering or maintain their fitness training between the fall and winter sessions. Wichita Park & Recreation supports 127 parks, eight recreation centers, nine swimming pools, 52 athletic fields, five golf courses, six interactive fountains, numerous adult and youth-based activities and athletics programs and 2,407 acres of rights-of-way.
