Presentation and Public Hearing Scheduled for next week
The Grants Review Committee appointed by the Wichita City Council will host a public hearing next week regarding uses of certain federal funds for 2015 and 2016. The meeting will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 in the first floor board room at City Hall, 455 N. Main.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to offer feedback to the Grants Review Committee.
The public hearing will consider presentations by agencies that submitted proposals for 2015-2016 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to provide youth recreation and crime prevention and shelter services for families fleeing domestic violence; Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds to provide emergency shelter services for the homeless; and applications for Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) funds for new housing development.
Information obtained during the public hearing will be used by the Grants Review Committee to prepare recommendations for funding. Recommendations will be submitted to City Manager Robert Layton who will review them and forward final recommendations to the City Council for consideration on March 3.
CDBG, HOME, and ESG funds are allocated to the City of Wichita by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) based on community indicators in Wichita and based on Congressional appropriations.
