Backflow-Cross Connection Control

Backflow preventers are mechanical devices which, when properly maintained, prevent dangerous contaminants and pollutants from entering the public water supply.

Water purveyors, such as the Wichita Water Utilities, are required by the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974 to implement a cross connection control program to protect the water supply from materials connected to the water system. State Law and Local Codes require that unprotected connections be addressed with proper protection for the hazard or water service to the consumer must be terminated. The Cross Connection Section works to ensure safe water for all consumers of water in our system.

Backflow Prevention Test Reports

Pardon our mess! Wichita’s Backflow Submission interface, used for generating and submitting backflow device test reports, will be down for maintenance this coming week of July 24 – 28. A blank form may be printed if you wish to proceed with testing and submit the results electronically once notified that the portal is back up. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause! Customers with pending expiration dates will be extended.
