This tract of land, acquired in 1975, has been designated a Wichita Wild Habitat area. An entry drive and parking lot are located on Maize Road. Pedestrian access to the nature trail is at this parking lot, off Covington where the path intersects the cul-de-sac and on Central opposite Karren Street.

Land and Water Conservation Funds, provided by the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks and the National Park Service, have been used to develop this park.
