The Wichita Bicycle Wayfinding System Plan will serve as a guide for the City of Wichita, with recommendations for how the City should use bicycle wayfinding to make it easier for people to get around the City. The Plan will help implement the Wichita Bicycle Master Plan Strategy 2.
Planning Process
It is anticipated that the planning process will last approximately one year. Highlights from the planning process will be posted below.
Committees
Two committees will be formed in order to help ensure that the City of Wichita Bicycle Wayfinding System Plan meets the needs of our community. In addition to the committees, a Planning Team has been created to staff the planning process. Below are brief descriptions of each committee and the planning team.
Steering Committee
This committee helps to guide the process, develop the plan, and ultimately recommend the final draft for consideration by the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board. The Board will have the opportunity to recommend the Plan to the City Council for endorsement. There are many ways that the Steering Committe members will be involved in the planning process, including the following activities:
- participate in a minimum of two (2) Steering Committee meetings.
- assist with project oversight to ensure that this civic inititative accomplishes its purpose on time and within the budget.
- assist in the development of the Plan.
- accept public feedback and help ensure that the Plan meets the needs of the Wichita community.
- help develop criteria for setting priorities.
- review and provide input on implementation strategies.
