Wichita: Places for People
The City of Wichita is embarking on a Plan for the ‘Established Central Area’ of Wichita. The intention is to encourage population and employment growth, residential and commercial development, and reinvestment in the older, mature neighborhoods of Wichita.
Wichita Urban Infill
The Community Investments Plan, the comprehensive plan for Wichita-Sedgwick County, calls for an “infill strategy” that would develop vacant or underutilized land in existing developed areas. With a focus on the downtown and the mature neighborhoods surrounding it (dubbed the “Established Central Area”) the strategy aims to reverse patterns of abandonment and decline.”

July 26, 2018 Schedule
On October 13, 2009, the City Council approved a contract with Goody Clancy to develop a downtown master plan which took approximately 12 months to complete. The end result is Project Downtown-The Master Plan for Wichita that was adopted as an element of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Comprehensive Plan.
