Wichita Priority Safety Corridor Plan

The Wichita Priority Corridor Plan will recommend ways to make Broadway Avenue between 11th Street and 3rd Street safer and more inviting for people to travel along and across Broadway. The project will build on previous community planning efforts, including the Historic Midtown Neighborhood Transportation and Streetscapes Plan, and the Wichita Pedestrian Master Plan. The recommendations will include short-term and long-term concepts.

Planning Process

The Priority Corridor Project on Broadway began in mid-June and will conclude in mid-September. The process includes:

  • Focus area selection
  • Existing conditions analysis
  • Concept development and refinement
  • Prioritization, funding, and phasing analysis
  • Stakeholder outreach and engagement

Highlights from the planning process will be posted below.

  • On July 10, 2018, the City hosted a pop-up and community walk event. At the event, community residents and stakeholders had an opportunity to share information about their experiences and thoughts on the corridor.
  • The first open house for the Wichita Broadway Safety Corridor Plan was held on August 2, 2018 from 4:30 to 5:45 at the Robert D. Love Downtown YMCA. Approximately 20 people attended the event.
