Deputy Chief Paul Duff - Field Services Division

Profile picture of Deputy Chief Paul DuffDeputy Chief Paul Duff began his career with the Wichita Police Department (WPD) in July 2004. He migrated from Liverpool England at the age of 18 to attend Wichita State University. After graduating from Wichita State University and then the University of Kansas he joined WPD and attended the WPD Law Enforcement Training Center. He was initially assigned to Patrol North as a beat officer before serving as a School Resource Officer at Marshall Middle School. He then worked as a Special Community Action Team Officer for Patrol South, before transferring to work as a community policing officer for Patrol East.

In February 2012, Paul was promoted to Detective and worked in multiple sections which included Night Investigations, the Financial Crimes Unit, and the Robbery Section. In April 2014, Paul was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to Patrol East 3rd shift.

In October 2015, Paul was then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned as the 2nd watch/community policing commander at Patrol East. In August 2016, Chief Ramsay then transferred Paul to be the Lieutenant of the Professional Standards Bureau overseeing departmental internal investigations.

In October 2018, Paul was promoted to the rank of Captain and was assigned to the Special Investigations Bureau. He was then transferred to be the Executive Officer to the Chief of Police before being assigned as the bureau commander at Patrol West. Paul currently serves as the Interim Deputy Chief of the Support Services Division.

Paul has a bachelor's degree in International Business from Wichita State University and a Master's degree in International Studies with a focus on International and Domestic terrorism from the University of Kansas. For over 6 years Paul served on the bomb squad as an FBI-certified bomb technician and currently commands the Wichita Police Department Dignitary Protection Team, a role he has held since 2017. Paul has also served as an adjunct professor for both Wichita State and Newman University.
