Joshua Pavelski is our Deputy Chief of Operations and has been serving the Wichita Fire Department since 2022. As Deputy Chief of Operations, Wichita Fire Department’s largest division, he oversees more than 400 commissioned firefighters, who are trained in the use of over 60 pieces of fire apparatus, including Engines, Trucks, Rescues, Squads, Brush units, Water Tenders, and other specialized equipment. The Operations Division receives more than 50,000 calls per year for emergency assistance, and responds to fires, medical emergencies, automobile accidents, hazardous materials spills, and rescue incidents to ensure the safety and well-being of all who live and visit Wichita. The Operations Division consists of three sub-divisions: Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Special Operations, and Safety/Training.
Chief Pavelski stated that the Wichita Fire Department is in continuous needs of ambitious men and women to assist in helping the citizens of Wichita. Embarking on a career in public safety proves beneficial for both the individual and the community.
