New City Ordinance
On January 2, 2024, Wichita's City Council passed an ordinance aimed at preventing landlords from retaliating against tenants who express concerns about their housing conditions. Read the ordinance to find out more information.
In accordance with HUD guidelines outlined in the Housing Assistance Payment Contract, the landlord must provide a written 60-day advance notice to the tenant and the Housing Authority to increase the rent. Any rent increase request or other changes to the lease received with less than a 60- day notice will be denied.
Provide or mail the Notice directly to the tenant and provide a copy to the Housing Authority.
