The Way to Work (TWTW) Summer Youth Program is designed to empower youth with the tools and resources needed to become successful employees - now and in the future! TWTW seeks to expose youth to positive work experiences, teach self-sufficiency skills, and meet the needs of the community. If you are interested in a summer job remember the following things:

  • Youth must be 14 to 17 years old by June 1st.
  • Youth must reside in Wichita/Sedgwick County.
  • Must meet income guidelines. See below.
Size of Family Unit12-Month Income

For each additional family member add $10,760.

Primary Youth Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model while promoting the program's mission
  • Promote the City of Wichita's mission and values
  • Accept and respect each program participant as an individual
  • Identify personal and professional goals and be a willing participant in the development process
  • Maintain acceptable attendance practices for the entire summer program
  • Additional job duties will be assigned once youth identify their specific placements in the community.

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Interact with other youth and staff in a pleasant and polite manner
  • Perform basic tasks such as reading, writing, and following instructions
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills
