Open Streets ICT provides more than just opportunities for physical exercise - it's an exercise in building community, cultural identity, and social engagement. By temporarily removing the danger of motor vehicles, Open Streets provides a novel type of public space that helps people make social connections and lets them view their city through a new lens.
Active Fun for All
No Matter the Age or Physical Ability
Along the route there will be many restaurants, businesses, and organizations participating with food, activities, and fun for all ages and physical levels to enjoy.
At the Douglas event, folks can walk north to First and Second Streets to jump on the trolley for free to get from Delano to College Hill hubs.
Open Streets ICT is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy event for all participants. The organizers of this event discourage the use of tobacco products by employees, vendors, and volunteers. In addition, organizers decided not to accept money from the tobacco industry, nor allow the promotion of tobacco products. Going tobacco-free will help protect our community from the deadly effects of secondhand smoke, demonstrate to youth that tobacco use is not the norm, and support those who have chosen to quit.
