The Property Crimes Bureau consists of the Burglary Section, Larceny Section, Financial Crimes Section, and Auto Theft Section. The mission of the Property Crimes Bureau is to thoroughly investigate criminal cases, with the intent to identify and charge offenders, recover stolen property, and prepare cases for successful prosecution.
The Auto Theft Section consists of four detectives that are supervised by a Lieutenant. This section is responsible for the investigation of all automobile thefts in the City of Wichita. The Larceny Section is supervised by a lieutenant and currently has six Detectives assigned. The Larceny Section is responsible for the investigations of theft cases occurring in the City of Wichita.
The Burglary Section consists of eight Detectives that are supervised by one Lieutenant. This section is responsible for the investigation of all burglaries, both residence and non-residence and all vandalisms (except vandalisms to automobiles) that occur in the City of Wichita. The Financial Crimes Section assesses and prioritizes the investigation of employee embezzlements, thefts by fraud, forgeries, check crimes, financial card crimes, identity theft, and computer crimes occurring within the City of Wichita.
