The newly established Wichita-Sedgwick County Food and Farm Council (FFC) will coordinate and connect food system activities, elevating the goals of the Food System Master Plan.

City Council Members and County Commissioners will publicly nominate and appoint 14 stakeholders from the following groups:

  • Urban Food Production
  • Urban Food Retail
  • Emergency Food Assistance
  • Food Justice / Equity
  • Food Distribution
  • Institutional Food Purchasing
  • And Food Systems / Health / Community Development Coalition / Organization

  • Rural Food Production
  • Rural Food Retail
  • Small Food Processing
  • Natural Resources / Conservation
  • Health / Nutrition
  • Workforce/Business Development
  • And Training / Education

Membership can extend beyond that to include other stakeholders whose activities or concerns intersect with food system issues. People from outside of the food system can be allies who bring new resources and ideas to the table.

If you have experience or interest related to building a thriving food economy, healthy food access, and/or food systems policy and governance, please apply for a seat on The Wichita-Sedgwick County Food and Farm Council!

Throughout 2020, the Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita, the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County and community partners created a Food System Master Plan. See more information and how you can participate in the process. The plan has been adopted by the City Council and County Commission.
