2023 Resident Survey Interactive Dashboard Launches
Since 2006, the City has participated in the National Community Survey to gauge resident satisfaction with municipal services and to help determine priority areas for improvement. Yesterday, the City of Wichita, in partnership with mySidewalk, launched an interactive data platform to allow residents to more easily explore results from the recently released Polco Resident Satisfaction Survey.
Wichita’s Resident Survey Insights Dashboard is fueled by the idea that data is for everyone, not just the experts. The platform provides simplified data visualizations that unlock insights so users can identify resident priorities including a variety of opportunities to compare survey participant results across a range of demographic and geographic crosstabs. The featured graphs and maps are available for public download, and community data is exportable in multiple formats.
Some compelling findings include:
- 71.4% of survey respondents provided a positive response (“good” or “excellent”) to the question asking them to rate their satisfaction with Wichita as a place to live.
- Street repair, economic development and crime prevention had high importance ratings but lower quality ratings.
- Fire Services and Wichita Public Library services had the highest quality ratings.
More information is available at wichita.gov/insights. The annual survey helps shape the annual City budget by measuring resident priorities and perceptions. At 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 at the Advanced Learning Library, 711 W. 2nd Street, the City will host a budget engagement session for Civic Engagement Academy. More opportunities to weigh in on the budget will be posted on wichita.gov/342/Budget-Process.
