Community Colleges

​The Wichita region has over 20,000 students enrolled in community and technical colleges. These colleges fuel many of the Wichita industries by offering custom training programs, certificates and educational opportunities for new students as well as those returning to school to advance in their careers.

Butler Community College

Public, two-year, co-educational institution located in El Dorado, Kansas. Established in 1927 as El Dorado Junior College, Butler now stands as the second largest community college in Kansas and the sixth largest educational institution in the state. That means, annually, more than 13,000 students ranging in age from sophomores and juniors in high school to grandparents seeking a new career, enjoy and benefit from our small classes and nurturing environment.

Butler students have access to more than 90 different academic programs across 24 learning sites which includes numerous high schools in the area. The faces in our classrooms come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and from all over the U.S. and the world.

Hutchinson Community College (Hutch)

Hutch is a fully accredited, public comprehensive college, offering four degrees in Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of General Studies, and Associate of Applied Science and spans more than 75 areas of study. Enrollment tops 5,750.

Cowley Community College (Cowley)

Cowley is a community college and a vocational, technical school. With more than 80 majors and degree possibilities, it prepares approximately 4,500 plus students annually to transfer to a four-year program or to enter the workforce with a two-year job-ready degree.

Wichita State University Tech (WSU Tech)

WSU Tech is a unique technical college offering a mix of specialized technical programs, general education, and online courses. WSU Tech houses the number-one ranked aviation and advanced manufacturing programs in the nation at its National Center for Aviation Training. In addition, it serves 5,000 students seeking careers in 60 fields of study including nursing, dental assisting, surgical technology, patient care, and other health sciences, automotive technology, climate and energy control, welding, machining, engineering and interior design.
