What are some tips to riding bikes in the streets?

The good thing about riding during Open Streets ICT is that there will be no motorists allowed on the route during the duration of the event. However that doesn't mean there are no rules. We ask that all walking and slower riding participants stay to the sidewalk and/or righthand side. All bikers and faster-riding participants stay to the lefthand side.

Follow the tips below to ensure a safe environment for all:

  • Remain Visible
  • Make sure to wear proper safety gear (helmets, knee pads, etc.)
  • Ride on the right side of the street
  • Yield to pedestrians/ those who are walking
  • Be mindful of young children and those with disabilities.
  • Do not ride on the sidewalk - that's why it's called Open Streets!
