About WSCCAP

Who We Are

Mission: To assist low income families build a brighter future through financial independence.

The Wichita Sedgwick County Community Action Partnership (WSCCAP) is a Division of the City of Wichita Housing and Community Services Department. It is also the Community Action Agency for Wichita and Sedgwick County.

WSCCAP staff represent a combination of professional skill and expertise, with compassion and genuine concern for each person or family who believes the program Mission meets their personal goals.

To achieve the Mission WSCCAP staff provide personal attention to each person, to identify their strengths, for we believe everyone has personal gifts that can be directed toward achieving their goals. The very act of seeking WSCCAP services is a strength upon with to build!

Program services include regularly scheduled one on one meetings with WSCCAP staff to ensure progress is being made towards eliminating barriers to success. Services also include referrals to other community agencies which can build upon each person/family's unique strengths and address needs.

When funding is available WSCCAP can provide participants with a cash match when they agree to open and maintain a savings account to help reach their personal goals.

WSCCAP has an administering board which is required to fully participate in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation fo programs and operations supported by Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds. CSBG Review Committe members represent the public, private, and low-income sector.

What We Do

Goal: To help individuals and families overcome the barriers which are preventing them from becoming self-sufficient.

The program through which the Mission and Goal are achieved is Individual and Family Development (IFD), which works with 2 or more generations in participating families.

Case Management

Family Development Specialists schedule individual sessions to explore career interests and goals, prepare a plan customized to meet those goals, and follow up on a weekly or biweekly basis to provide encouragement as needed.

Family Resources

Family Development Specialists focus on the family as a whole, and on individual members of the family, to ensure support for participating family members and to increase the capacity of the family to become self-sufficient.
