Wichita Transit Extending Service at WSU
Wichita Transit is improving bus access to Wichita State University’s main campus beginning the first week of classes, officials said.
The partnership will extend the East 17th Street route to operate through the WSU’s main campus. The existing service operates around the campus. The goal of the new service is to improve public transit access for WSU students, faculty and staff and to offer WSU riders another option for travelling to and from campus.
The new outbound route will enter the main campus from 17th Street at Fairmount and make Perimeter Road stops at Duerksen Fine Arts Center and Hubbard Hall before exiting onto 21st Street at Yale.
The new inbound route will enter the main campus from 21st Street at Mike Oatman Drive with stops at the Marcus Welcome Center/Eck Stadium and Elliott Hall and exit onto 17th Street at Fairmount.
Wichita Transit buses are equipped free wi-fi and bike racks. Service operates every 30 minutes during morning and evening peak hours and every 60 minutes during midday, Monday thru Saturday. Riders wanting to ride the bus can purchase semester passes, which provide unlimited rides on Transit routes for the entire semester.
