Applications accepted until Jan. 15
Small businesses interested in applying for the Neighborhood Façade Program may submit applications until close of business on Friday, Jan. 15. The original deadline was Jan. 1, although early documents listed the later deadline.
“In order to ensure that all interested businesses have an opportunity to apply for these funds, we thought it would be fair to honor the date that was in early staff documents”, stated Mary K. Vaughn, Director of Housing and Community Services. Her department manages the City of Wichita’s Community Development Block Grant funds awarded from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Neighborhood Façade Program is funded from that program.
Applications must be turned in to the Office of Urban Development on the 13th floor of City Hall. Allen Bell, Urban Development director, said nearly $1 million in requests has been received as of January 1.
A total of $200,000 is available for the façade program, which makes it important that all applications are received in a timely fashion to meet preliminary eligibility criteria, Bell said.

All applications will be considered for funding decisions made after January 15.
