“Camino al Futuro”
The City of Wichita, in partnership with the Office of WSU Multicultural Affairs, National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA) of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Chapter, USD 259 AmeriCorps GRASP Program, Wichita Latino Caucus and the Hispanic Women’s Network are hosting a college career and job resources fair titled, “Fathers Make a Difference” from 4:30 p.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 15th at Horace Mann Dual Language School. The event will encourage and promote the father’s leadership role in his child’s education.
Rev. Jose Manual Miranda of El Mesias United Methodist Church will be the key note speaker. The NLPOA will facilitate three round table discussions on the importance of education, the role of law enforcement in the community and gang awareness. A light dinner will be provided.
Wichita City Council member, Janet Miller, will give the opening remarks and welcome. A certificate recognition ceremony will complete the event.
One additional workshop is scheduled to be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on May 8th at Newman University for the whole family. There is no cost to attend the workshops.
These workshops are made possible by a CSBG grant funded through the ARRA (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act).
