Work will occur from Greenwich to 127th Street East
Work will get underway next month to reconstruct Harry Street from Greenwich to 127th Street East to provide a center, left-turn lane and enhance the existing lanes in each directions. Drainage improvements will be included, as well as a multi-use path on the south side of Harry. The intersection of Harry and 127th Street will be rebuilt with left turn lanes in all four directions.
A public meeting to answer area residents’ questions about the project is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 29 at Journey Church, 9999 East Harry.
The project is slated to begin May 10 with paving work to be completed by Nov. 19 and turf area restoration completed by April 2011.
Harry Street will be rebuilt in three stages: from Greenwich to Michelle, followed by Michelle to 127th and then the intersection of Harry and 127th. During the reconstruction of Harry and 127th, left turns will be prohibited. Detours signs will be posted during each phase.
The $2.95 million project will include $1.0 million in American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) funding. The balance will be funded through City general obligation bonds.
