Kayaking Image Wins ICT Photo Contest

Contact: Valerie Wise, Air Service & Business Development Manager |

A photograph of Wichitans Dustin and Kendra Garrels kayaking in New Zealand during their honeymoon is the winner of Wichita Mid-Continent Airport’s “Adventures Are a Breeze” photo contest. The Garrels won two airline tickets from Wichita to any location in the continental United States.

The winning photo, along with other contest finalists, is attached and available at the airport’s newly redesigned website: The slide show will be updated each month with photos from the contest and others submitted by airport passengers. More than 700 photos were submitted during the contest, which ran from March 1 through March 28. The contest was judged by contest sponsor representatives from Mid-Continent Airport, KAKE-TV, KFDI Radio and Armstrong Shank Advertising.

”Our goal is to engage the traveling public so that they identify Mid-Continent as their airport,” said Valerie Wise, the airport’s Air Service and Business Development Manager. “We’re very pleased with the quality and quantity of the photos. They’re proof that you can definitely see the world from Mid-Continent.”

Travelers are encouraged to continue submitting their photos to the new Web site, which was designed by Armstrong Shank Advertising. Select photos will be shown each month at the home page. Photos submitted can be reviewed on the airport’s Facebook fan page.
