A fundraiser for No More Hungry Kids Campaign

The Wichita Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) has scheduled a silent auction fundraiser for the No More Hungry Kids campaign from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 22 at Center Art Gallery, 111 N. Ellis. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at Bob Smith Tile Company, 504 W. Harry, or from Mayor’s Youth Council members.

Attendees may bid on donated items which include tickets to see Boyz II Men at the Orpheum Theatre, a photo session and 8”x10” photo from Camera Angles Photography, a weekend getaway at the Hyatt Regency Wichita, a 60-minute massage from Massage Junkie and passes to Wichita’s arts and culture attractions. Winning bids must be paid for onsite only by cash or check.

Additional donated items are being accepted through Friday in the City Manager’s Office on the 13th floor of City Hall.

The MYC was formed by Mayor Carl Brewer in 2007 to provide Wichita youth an opportunity to weigh in on community issues and learn about government. It consists of approximately 50 junior and senior high school students from Wichita area schools. MYC students participate in civic activities, volunteer events, government affairs, fund-raisers and other activities. They meet at least once a month as a group or as a member of one of seven MYC committees. They elect a MYC Mayor, Vice-Mayor, City Manager and other leaders.
