Presentations will air live on City7 and wichita.gov
City Manager Robert Layton will give a televised presentation on the 2011-12 Proposed Budget and the revised 2010 Budget at 6 p.m. on June 28 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 455 N. Main. Residents and media members should arrive early to pass through security.
District Advisory Boards members and residents are encouraged to attend the presentation, which will be followed by a report on the draft Downtown Master Plan. Viewers can watch both presentations live on Cox Cable channel City 7 or at www.wichita.gov and email budget questions during the live telecast to budgetquestions@wichita.gov.
The budget and master plan presentations will include a question-and-answer segment hosted by the Manager, top City Hall administrators and downtown redevelopment leaders.
The downtown presentation is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. It will be hosted by Susie Ahlstrand of Visioneering Wichita and Scott Knebel of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Department.
The public meeting follows several public meetings on the City’s annual budget process. The public meetings are designed to increase public engagement and transparency of the budget process. The City Manager will release his 2011-12 Proposed Budget on July 13 and several other public budget meetings are scheduled including on July 20, Aug. 3 and Aug. 10 when the City Council is scheduled to formally adopt the budget.
Layton said the budget meeting schedule is preliminary and subject to change based on discussions with the City Council.
