National Night Out Kickoff Tonight in Old Town

Contact: Communications Team |

The five-day celebration of National Night Out (NNO) starts tonight with an 8 p.m. party at the Old Town Farm and Art Market, 835 E. First, sponsored by KEYN Radio. It will feature the band, “Big Fat Fun,” and will include an information tent to answer questions about events.

“Celebrating National Night Out, whether it is in Old Town or at your neighborhood block party, has become a Wichita tradition, said Mayor Carl Brewer. “For 27 years the Wichita community has been gathering together in neighborhoods and throughout the community to take a stand against crime. You might call it a ‘going away party’ for crime.”

Other NNO events are:

  • National Night Out at the NBC Tournament Saturday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium. A fireworks show will follow the 5 p.m. game, sponsored by Meritrust Credit Union.
  • Family Zoo Day at the Sedgwick County Zoo on Sunday sponsored by radio stations KFDI, KLIO, KICT-95, 104.5 Fox, KFTI & KYQQ and Sedgwick County Zoo. Visitors will receive $3 off the general admission price.
  • Neighborhood block parties across the city on Tuesday, beginning at various times.
