Fred Hochberg, chairman and president of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, has scheduled an Aug. 12 visit to Wichita.
The visit will be the first Wichita stop for the top executive of the Export-Import Bank. Based in Washington, D.C., the “Ex-Im Bank” is the official export credit agency of the United States. Ex-Im Bank's mission is to assist in financing the export of U.S. goods and services to international markets.
The bank enables U.S. companies — large and small — to turn export opportunities into real sales that help to maintain and create U.S. jobs and contribute to a stronger national economy.
In addition to visiting the bank’s clients in this area during his two-day stay, Hochberg will also address a noon luncheon at the Wichita Hyatt Regency on Thursday, Aug. 12.
According to his office, his remarks will focus on “the importance of competing in today’s global marketplace and the role of export financing in helping businesses create jobs through exports.”
The visit is partly in response to the recent Brookings Institute report that ranked Wichita as the top community in the nation in export growth.
"I'm excited to have this chance to get the word out to Wichita-area businesses large and small about the opportunities to grow their profits through exports," said Ex-Im Bank Chairman and President Fred P. Hochberg. "Wichita workers can compete with anyone in the world, and Ex-Im Bank can help provide local companies with the export financing they need to sell their products to the 95 percent of global consumers who live outside of America's borders."
Tickets to the Aug. 12 noon luncheon are $40. Registration and ticket purchases can be completed online at the Kansas World Trade Center website at kansaswtc.org or by calling the Center at (316) 264-5982. Registration closes August 10.
The Aug. 12 noon luncheon is a public event and media coverage is encouraged. Chairman Hochberg will also be available for media interviews during his visit. Media outlets that would like to schedule interviews should contact Dale Goter at (316) 371-0134 or firstname.lastname@example.org
