Tonight is the kickoff of several upcoming public meetings designed to help determine which programs and services should be provided at City of Wichita recreation facilities.
Residents are encouraged to attend the meetings, which are listed below. The meetings will be held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. today, Tuesday and Oct. 14.Childcare will be provided.
“It’s very important residents attend these meetings so we can find out which services are important to them,” said Doug Kupper, Director of the Department of Park and Recreation.” Their feedback will help us develop a plan to better serve them through our neighborhood recreation centers.”
The meetings will provide background information on each recreation facility and roundtable discussions about which recreation center services should be offered. Topics will include classes, building usage, fees, facility hours and new services. Organizers include officials from Wichita State University’s Hugo Wall School of Urban & Public Affairs.
The Department of Park and Recreation is seeking feedback regarding its services after a $1 million reduction to its recreation center budget. The scheduled meetings follow:
