Weekend Events

The Wichita Fire Department is taking part in the annual Firefighters Museum Parade at 2 p.m., Saturday and the Fallen Firefighters Memorial ceremony at 1:30 p.m., Sunday. This is the ninth year the City of Wichita has hosted both special events.

The parade will begin in the Wal-Mart parking lot (Pawnee & Broadway) and will conclude at Lincoln Park (south of Lincoln & Broadway). Attendees will enjoy games, hot dogs and entertainment.

The Firefighters Memorial ceremony will take place just south of the Firefighters Museum in Lincoln Park, 1300 S. Broadway. Wichita Fire Chief Ronald D. Blackwell will be in attendance. Each year, the Wichita Fire Department honors Kansas firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

“It is important that we never forget the sacrifice made by these dedicated men and women, who gave their lives in the service of others,” said Tod Newlin of the Wichita Fire Department.
