A community workday is scheduled for North Woodland Park from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Volunteers include officials from AT&T Pioneers, neighborhood residents and City of Wichita staff, AT&T Pioneers is a volunteer organization made up of employees and retirees who volunteer time to enhance communities where they work and live. The Kansas Chapter is part of a 325,000-member national organization.
Over the last few months, the Park and Recreation Department has been partnering with the AT&T Pioneers to discuss improvements, which will benefit the community and neighborhood residents surrounding North Woodland Park, 841 W. 21st Street. The park, purchased in 1921, includes a playground, basketball court, softball diamond, walking path and a Hispanic senior center. AT&T Pioneers are sponsoring a “Rehab Picnic Table Day” to spruce up some older picnic tables and install new ones.
