With the holiday season approaching, the Wichita Police Department (WPD) wants to make the roads in Wichita as safe as possible. WPD wants to remind drivers to drive carefully and courteously. For the Thanksgiving Holiday, the WPD will be conducting traffic enforcement assignments beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Thursday, Nov. 25.
Wichita Police Officers will be assigned to special assignments with the primary task of identifying and arresting drunk drivers. Officers will also monitor traffic with special attention to speeding violations. The traffic enforcement will be conducted throughout the City of Wichita, beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Thursday, Nov. 25.
These special assignments are funded as part of the WPD 2011 Impaired Driving Deterrence Program Grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation.
