Wichita City Manager Robert Layton will present his proposal for Park and Recreation services during two community meetings over the next week. Meetings are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at Linwood Recreation Center, 1901 S. Kansas and on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Lynette Woodard Gymnasium, 2750 E 18th Street.
Layton will share results of the community input gathered at previous public meetings and a plan for restructuring the Recreation staff in response to this input. His proposed plan restructures the Park and Recreation Department to reduce administrative overheard while maintaining existing service levels.
The public is encouraged to attend the upcoming meetings. Earlier meetings were held at McAdams Recreation Center, Osage Recreation Center, Linwood Recreation Center, Lynette Woodard recreation Center, Aley/Stanley Recreation Center, Colvin Recreation Center, Evergreen Recreation Center, Edgemoor Recreation Center, Boston Recreation Center and orchard Recreation Center.
“It’s very important residents attend these meetings so we can finalize the plan which will begin in the New Year,” said Doug Kupper, Director of Park and Recreation. “Their continued involvement will help us develop a sustainable program.”
