The Wichita Fire Department has issued an immediate burn ban on all open burning permits issued in the Wichita city limits. Strong winds, lack of moisture, dry grass and weeds puts the City of Wichita at a very high risk of fires.
Violators will be issued a citation and suspension of their burn permit.
The Fire Department also stresses the need for prevention awareness and asks all residents who smoke to use extreme caution by not discarding cigarette butts on the ground or out of car windows.
