New hours for Keeper’s ‘Ring of Fire’

Wichita Fire Department officials are reminding residents to change batteries in smoke alarms when they adjust clocks for daylight saving time on Sunday.

A working smoke alarm provides an early warning for residents needing to escape a fire. The fire department also recommends the use of quality batteries to help ensure your smoke alarm is operational. For more information, please call the Fire Prevention Office at 268-4441.

Relatedly, beginning Sunday, the Keeper of the Plains’ Ring of Fire schedule will change to 9 p.m. nightly. The Ring of Fire feature burns for 15 minutes, weather permitting. The feature is not possible when wind or high river levels are present.
